Corticosteroid Injections
Corticosteroid injections at Suburban Foot & Ankle deliver powerful anti-inflammatory medication directly into painful joints, tendons, or soft tissues for fast, targeted relief. Performed in-office at our Elmhurst and Bloomingdale locations, these injections are one of the most effective treatments for acute and chronic foot and ankle inflammation.
Benefits
- Rapid reduction of pain and swelling — often within 24–48 hours
- Precisely targeted delivery to the affected area
- Avoids systemic side effects associated with oral steroids
- Effective for a wide range of conditions including plantar fasciitis and arthritis
- Quick procedure with no downtime
- Ultrasound guidance available for pinpoint accuracy
What to Expect
The injection site is cleaned and may be sprayed with a topical coolant for comfort. Your podiatrist uses palpation or ultrasound to guide a fine needle to the precise location of inflammation and administers the corticosteroid solution. The procedure takes only a few minutes. You may be advised to rest the area briefly and apply ice afterward.
When Is This Treatment Recommended?
Corticosteroid injections are appropriate for plantar fasciitis, Morton's neuroma, bursitis, tendinitis, ankle arthritis, heel pain, and other inflammatory conditions that have not improved sufficiently with rest, ice, and oral medication.
